AMARIA
One can truly feel when a project is run by a family that pours all their love and devotion into it. Nestled in the picturesque Alentejo region of Portugal, AMARIA is a serene, off-grid retreat that blends eco-conscious living with minimalist luxury. Surrounded by rolling hills, olive trees, and vast open landscapes, this boutique guesthouse offers an intimate escape for those looking to reconnect with nature and find inner peace.
The property consists of just a few carefully designed suites and private cabins, each offering a sense of seclusion and comfort. With sustainable architecture and natural materials – AMARIA harmonizes perfectly with its surroundings. I wish I could have brought home their gardens. The accommodations are designed to encourage a slower pace of life, free from the distractions of modern technology, and emphasize wellness, simplicity, and relaxation.
Guests at AMARIA can enjoy peaceful walks through the property’s stunning natural surroundings, take part in yoga and meditation sessions, or simply relax by the outdoor pool. AMARIA is actually an adults only place. But if you have a baby they might make an exception. We loved the pool area and so did our little boy. Luckily, all the guests were very kind (he was only 19 months old at the time) and did not mind him jumping around in the water and we also chose the hours less frequented.
The retreat’s emphasis on mindfulness is evident in every detail, from the organic, locally sourced meals served at the communal dining area to the eco-friendly practices throughout the space. We dined there once, and the experience was delightful. Breakfast was exceptional, with an array of fresh, locally sourced products and yummy cakes baked daily— our son learned the word „Kuchen“ (German for „cake“) there because he loved them. The staff were incredibly warm, and the owners regularly checked in, ensuring we felt truly welcome. Their hospitality made us feel as though we were staying with family.
Amaria features two buildings with 11 uniquely designed guest rooms, including 4 suites, 7 junior suites, and a spacious 2-3 bedroom apartment. So, it’s a small hotel which contributes to a calm atmosphere - it can never get crowded by the pool or at breakfast. Each room has an outdoor patio with garden and ocean views. The sunset at our room (nr. 6) was just breathtaking. The interiors are chosen with much love to detail. They are bright and spacious.
AMARIA is more than just a place to stay—it's a sanctuary for those seeking a deeper connection with themselves and the environment. Whether you are looking for a quiet getaway, a wellness retreat, or a space to reflect, AMARIA offers a rejuvenating experience in the heart of Portugal's tranquil countryside.
