Provence
We have always cherished getaways to Provence, typically opting for a visit during the spring season. The quaint streets of charming French villages are nearly deserted during this time, making it an ideal destination for those traveling with children or seeking a peaceful vacation experience. We prefer not to plan every detail in advance, especially since booking restaurants tends to be a challenging task for us. During spring, you can simply show up or book one or two days in advance. Although you won't encounter the typical lavender fields, the fragrance permeates through every store.
Enjoy reading, and see you in Provence soon!
Where to stay
Here’s a collection of our favorite places from the last 8 years:
Le Mas de Capelou (2023)
An ideal accommodation for those planning to visit Avignon, it also serves as a centrally located launchpad for exploring the regions of Luberon, Alpilles, or Camargue. Le Mas de Capelou is extremely welcoming to families, with a special emphasis on accommodating children. They offer both rooms and fully equipped apartments. The outdoor space is expansive, providing ample room for families as well as those in search of a more tranquil corner.
La Ferme les Callis (2018)
The nature, the light, the views of the olive trees, the Alpilles, and the Luberon contribute to the magic of this place. Les Callis farm offers a peaceful stop in Gordes with 5 or 6 rooms, providing a rejuvenating experience, accompanied by an exceptional color palette during the sunset. My husband and I specially enjoyed the calm mornings with breakfast outside in nature.
What to do
We love to discover the little villages and explore nature around them.
Depending on how south you are, we also recommend a day trip to Camargue. We saw the flamingos and had lunch at Aigues-Mortes.
We also did a short hike around Pont du Gard and another one around the Vallon-Pont-d’Arc.
